discussing everything creative
I believe that partly because most of the world is working from home and the ones who can't have a lot of time on their hands. Hopefully, you are spending it creating and building for the future.
Sadly, it may be a long time before normal life as we know it returns. Many industries may never return as we knew them before, making jobs no longer available, and many are being phased out altogether.
But, for as many industries that are eliminated, there are also opportunities for those who choose to invest their time, energy, and talents with focus.
Moving forward we need to learn new skills, and at the same time, embrace change.
We can choose to look at this time as creative time. I know that to be the case for me, anyway.
Over these past few months I've indulged in learning new skills, developed new processes, and reevaluating the possibilities that lie ahead. Not much of that is really new for me, except that the focus has been more toward my projects as opposed to client projects.
A few short months ago I decided to redesign my old ADCookDesign.com website from a WiX site (I know, I know - it was an old site) to an all-new WordPress website created with Elementor Pro. Finally, I had WordPress sites across the board. It looked good, had the whiz-bang, and loaded fast.
More recently, I completely redesigned my art website entirely from the ground up. Live since 1996, the ADCook.com website features about 140 artworks, dozens of pages, and hundreds of archived posts.
I was a project that I had put off for some time, mostly because of its scale, but I knew it needed to be done. And now that it's live, I could not be happier [Notice thatI said live, I didn't say done. Websites are never done.] So, okay, I can always be happier, but you get the point :-)
Remember earlier how I mentioned that I had redesigned my design site as a WordPress site? Well, that changed when I discovered Webflow. I got to work creating the all-new VegasDesignSEO.com website (presumably, you are here :-)
In early June 2020, I started building this website as a knowledge-base authority site to include graphic design and agency experience, website creation knowledge, search engine optimization insights, and concepts the DREAM TO LAUNCH book that I cowritten with Beti Kristof in 2018. Once VegasDesignSEO launched, the WordPress website was no longer needed since its content is now integrated into this site. The ADCookDesign.com URL now redirects visitors to the VegasDesignSEO.com home page.
I have also come to realize, or maybe re-realize, that it's time to start sharing all this content in a meaningful and rewarding way. I have a lifetime of knowledge in creating art (since 1971), graphic design (since 1980), and Internet and web design (since 1995). And I haven't slowed down! I still love this stuff.
Luckily for me, and you, I have super-creative friends, and a few smart ones too. I've been tossing the idea around for some time with some of them about starting a channel, either video or audio. Either way, now seemed like the right time.
I'm excited to share that I am launching the all-new DREAM TO LAUNCH PODCAST, which we are dubbing DTLRadio.com.
We are brand new at this whole Podcast thing. That both excites me and scares me at the same time. It excites me because I love learning new things that lead to creating (and the mic and software are cool, too). It scares me because this is way outside my comfort zone. I am an artist, a designer, a visual guy. So embracing change in regards to creating audio files is somewhat of a big shift from creating a painting or quietly clicking buttons to improve a website's search engine optimization and rankings.
Be sure to tune in often. Your visits, likes, and feedback are always appreciated.
